About

Robin Evans, LCSW, MSW

I am from Southern California and grew up in the South Bay.  For over 17 years, I worked in schools, a hospital, and private practice providing direct services.  I knew from an early age that I wanted to be a therapist and felt it was my natural calling.  For my undergraduate degree I attended CSULB earning a Bachelors of Arts in Psychology graduating Cum Laude.  I attended UCLA to study in the Masters in Social Work program, graduating with my Masters in Social Work, and later earning my license becoming a Licensed Clinical Social Worker.

My first position after graduate school was in an elementary school. I was the school counselor and provided individual, group, and family therapy to the students and their parents. I used play therapy, sand tray therapy, and art. I also utilized cognitive behavioral therapy along with structural family therapy to empower the students.  I spent many years at the school and enjoyed it immensely.

My next position was in an inpatient psychiatric unit at Providence Little Company of Mary in San Pedro working with adults and older adults. I provided crisis intervention, case management, individual therapy, family therapy, group therapy, clinical supervision of masters level MSW interns.  I provided services at the hospital for quite a few years and enjoyed the level of complexity and acute care that could be provided to a patient keeping them safe.

I have a special dedication for helping those suffering from major depression and other mental illnesses, especially those who are afraid to seek help because they are ashamed. Many want to deal with their depression or mental illness alone; and try to tough it out. They do not realize how their condition can continue to worsen without timely corrective treatment. My goal is to help break “The Stigma” so that people feel as comfortable taking care of their mental health as they do taking care of their physical health.

I enjoy hiking, yoga, dance, cooking, reading, travel, the great outdoors and TED talks.
