Do you ever feel like the weight of the world is on your shoulders? That you feel blue just thinking about the state of the world. You wish you could have more impact but feel small and don’t know where to start. These are Very common wonderings of my clients, usually ones in there twenties. They feel deeply concerned about how there could be more kindness and less violence in the world. A common outcome of feeling overwhelmed is to shut down and isolate. There could be a thought “if I can’t change anything then why bother with anything at all?” This isolation and thought pattern can lead to depression. Or maybe the depression was there before. Anyhow, the answer might be to start small. Start with yourself. Get yourself going. Get yourself on track. Get out of the house daily. Don’t play video games and watch media all day. Walk around the block, smile at a neighbor, and smile at a stranger. Sit in the sunshine. Call a friend. Get a therapist. You probably have big thoughts, dreams, and feelings that need to be let out . Start small, you are making the world a better place by participating in it.
